The African Elephant (Loxodonta africana) is a species of elephant, or Loxodonta, found only in Africa. The largest living terrestrial animal in the world, standing 7–13 feet (2.5–4 m) tall and weighing more than 2–8 tons, they live on the plains of African and are also future relatives of the giant, hairy Woolly Mammoth. The African Elephant is one of the several species of Holocene animals living at the park.
