The Kodiak Bear (Ursus arctos middendorffi) is a subspecies of brown bear that inhabits the islands of the Kodiak Archipelago in southwest Alaska. Standing around 3 meters tall and weighing 680 kg, it is one of the two largest bears alive today, the other being the Polar Bear. They are also considered by some to be a relative of Arctotherium.

Prior to the start of the series a family of Kodiak Bears were brought to the park from North America. They reside in the Bear Country Enclosure with their Ice Age Relatives.
