Prehistoric Earth: A Natural History Wiki

Bison latifrons, also known as the giant bison or long-horned bison, is a species of bison that lived in North America during the Pleistocene epoch ranging from Alaska to Mexico. It was the largest and heaviest bovid ever to live in North America. It thrived in North America for about 200,000 years, but became extinct 10,000 years ago, at the beginning of the last glacial maximum.

In the Series 3 finale "Mammoth's Undertaking Journey II: The Eternal Frontier", a herd of a dozen Long-Horned Bison were brought to the park from Late Pleistocene North America, 11,000 years ago. They reside in the Mammoth Tundra Enclosure with other ice age animals including the Woolly Mammoth.
