Metridiochoerus is an extinct genus in the pig family indigenous to the Pliocene and Pleistocene of Africa. It is also known as the giant warthog.
In the Series 3 episode "The Walking Ape", a few Metridiochoerus were brought to the park from Late Pliocene Africa 3.2 million years ago. They reside in the Giraffe Grasslands Enclosure.
