Paramylodon is an extinct genus of ground sloth of the family Mylodontidae endemic to North America during the Pliocene through Pleistocene epochs, living from around ~4.9 Mya–11,000 years ago. It is also known as Harlan's ground sloth.
Like some other mylodontids, Paramylodon had osteoderms embedded within its skin. Paramylodon lived in open landscapes, sometimes also in mountainous locations, and were grazers or mixed feeders. Preserved footprints are known. The morphology of the forelimbs has led to suggestions that Paramylodon may have engaged in burrowing.
In the Series 3 episode "Saving the Sabre Tooth," a pair of Paramylodon and their young were brought to the park from Late Pleistocene North America, 30,000 years ago. They reside in the Ape Man Jungle Enclosure.
In the Series 3 finale "Mammoth's Undertaking Journey II: The Eternal Frontier", while traveling through Late Pleistocene North America, 11,000 years ago, a Paramylodon was seen by the team grazing on leaves until it was killed by a hunting party of Paleo-Indians.
