Platybelodon (name meaning "Flat-Spear Tusk"), is a genus of amebelodontid proboscidean mammal, distantly related to modern-day elephants. Fossils are known from middle Miocene strata from parts of Asia and the Caucasus.
In the Series 4 episode "New Arrivals", a few Platybelodon were brought to the park from Late Miocene Asia, 10 million years ago. They reside in the Ape-Man Jungle Enclosure.
