Proterosuchus (name meaning "First Crocodile") is a genus of archosauriform chasmatosaur that originated during the Early Triassic period in what is now South Africa. Measuring 3 meters long and weighing 150 kg, this reptile is the oldest known ancestor of modern crocodilians.

In the Series 1 finale "Dawn of the Mesozoic", a group of Proterosuchus were brought to the park from Early Triassic Antarctica, 248 million years ago. They reside in the Crocodilie Lake Enclosure.
