Thylacosmilus (name meaning "pouched saber") is marsupial that had live in Pliocene South America 3 million years ago. They had Saber-Teeth like the Smilodon.
In the Series 4 episode "New Arrivals", a pair of Thylacosmilus were brought to the park from Mid Pliocene South America, 6 million years ago. They reside in the Saber-Tooth Rock Enclosure despite being a marsupial.

Thylacosmilus lived in South America during Late Pliocene 10 to 2 million years ago. They coexisted with other animals such as terror birds. They went extinct due to the changes to their environment and competition with other predators.

Physical Attributes[]
Thylacosmilus stood 1.2 m tall and weighed 120 kg. Thylacosmilus had a stout, muscular body that would have tired quickly when running. Much like Saber-Tooth cats like Smilodon, they had a pair of saber-like canines that could kill prey with one bite. Like many marsupials, Thylacosmilus had a pouch that is made to carry their young in.
